John trained in Sheffield, qualifying in 1987 BDS.
Following a sabbatical in Calgary Alberta of 3 months John joined Alan Dobkin, Phil Wander and Harvey Jacobs at City Centre Dental Practice in 1988, becoming a partner in 1998 alongside David Moss, and later Conor McConville and Daniel Sutcliffe. He joined Portman in April 2018 when City Centre Dental Practice was acquired and joined the group.
John's special interests include; IV and IHS sedation,completing the SAAD courses at St Mary’s in London - returning every 4 years for updates. He thoroughly enjoys treating anxious patients, cosmetic dentistry, cosmetic aesthetics and excels at good patient rapport, treating local, national and international patients.
John was also compliance manager at his practice for 25 years.
Outside of work, John is a Jujitsu instructor, and also enjoys motorbikes, gym, open water swimming, hill walking with his dog, and general outdoor sport participation.
He has 3 lovely children and a wonderful partner Kathryn.

John is now also Regional Clinical Lead - North West at Portman, supporting other Portman dentists with clinical and compliance support.
