Not only was Pittville Lawn one of the first ten practices to join Portman, joining us in July 2011, it was also the base for our central support colleagues at The Port from 2012 – 2019. Working closely alongside a practice ensured we really understood the day to day operations, which played an invaluable role in shaping our culture. Although we have now moved to our new offices at Rosehill following our growth over the last few years, Pittville Lawn will always hold a special place in our hearts.
We spoke to Laura Gravelle, who joined as Practice Manager at Pittville Lawn in October 2018, about what it means to her and the practice team to be a part of Portman.
“I joined in October 2018, but even in the nine months I have been here it’s evident that all of our practice colleagues enjoy being part of the Portman family.
Here at Pittville Lawn, what makes us unique is the strength of our team, and how many long-standing team members we have. We’ve worked really hard to employ and retain the best talent to ensure that we are all working hard towards the same goal – building a strong and prosperous practice that provides first-class dentistry with unrivalled service.
I really enjoy working at Portman, and one of the main reasons would have to be the team and their ability to work together.
Not only do Pittville Lawn have excellent clinicians who are highly experienced, offering exemplary dentistry, but all practice colleagues take so much pride in their work. We’re all focussed on providing a personalised experience for all of our patients, and want everyone to feel comfortable when they visit us. We’re especially mindful of our nervous patients, when we make a visit comfortable for a nervous patient, it goes a long way to making the whole process easier for them. Knowing that we put our patients first gives me a great sense of pride and satisfaction in my role.
In addition to the support and centralised administration available to us from our colleagues at The Port, the team really enjoy the fact that there is a social budget. Having this opportunity to socialise and enjoy each other’s company in a non-working environment has really helped to build a strong team. Knowing that there will be an opportunity to let our hair down at least every Christmas period and summer, has helped to strike a great work/life balance, which is important for building a strong and happy team. This translates into the care we provide our patients, making them feel at ease, comfortable, and as happy as they possibly can be whilst in our care.
Whilst we are well established, we are looking forward to growing the practice. We would like to build on our successes and improve the service offering to our patients. Our plans for the future include increasing the number of services and treatments that we can offer under one roof. Another element will be to look at partnerships with practices in the area and increase referrals for some of the specialist treatments that we offer – all whilst maintaining the same excellent levels of care that we have worked so hard to establish as a team.”
The growth of Portman has been an amazing journey, made possible by the energy and commitment of the colleagues, and through practices such as Pittville Lawn, who have gone above and beyond to make Portman what we are today.
