Owen James, Chief Operating Officer

Owen began his career in the British Army, serving five years as an infantry officer in the Welsh Guards. Later he became a project leader with consulting firm BCG where he focused on retail and consumer goods sectors. Owen also spent four years at Waitrose, in a number of roles, including leading the in-house strategy function and managing the pricing and promotions team. He joined Portman Dental Care in 2019 to establish and lead the strategy function, and is now chief operating officer for PortmanDentex, where is responsible for the day-to-day running of all our practices across the UK and Ireland.

Owen is excited about what’s about to come next with PortmanDentex as he believes we have an incredible opportunity to bring together great people and fantastic practices to transform dentistry. He values the strong collaborative spirit, where colleagues are always willing to go out of their way to help each other and support our practices.

Owen is married with two children and outside of work he enjoys running, buying books (at a greater rate than he can read them), playing golf and supporting the Welsh rugby team.
